A solid, four-year starting pitcher at Henniger – the 5-foot-9-inch freshman – a top-of-the-line starter – carries enormous upside with her to the collegiate level. Factored to be a key piece in Finger Lakes rotation this year – Mertens – listed as a pitcher and an outfielder on the roster – brings great athleticism with her to the field. The Syracuse, NY native was a solid find by the Lady Lakers coaching staff. With a pitcher of her caliber – Finger Lakes coaching staff – when she steps on the hill in 2013 – will instill great confidence in her abilities.
